Initiative / A creation by Berthe Aux Grands Pieds
A Nantes sailor sweater
The Berthe Aux Grands Pieds brand called on the Royal Mer company from Regrippière.
He gets his kicks by caring about others. In the early 2000s, Régis Gautreau from Angers launched his own brand of socks, Berthe Aux Grands Pieds, in reference to Charlemagne's mother who suffered from an atrophied foot: "But since we have two feet, I put all that in the plural". His creations are distinguished by their design and colors. In his image, "crazy, against the grain, audacious". He sells them at the markets of Nantes Talensac and Angers and in his shop on the Passage Pommeraye, "the smallest in Nantes, with its 3.14 m2". He is the one who creates his socks, all of which are made in France. A particularity that he also held to for his latest creation, a sailor sweater with, at the elbows, the designs of the socks and characterized by a red button on the shoulder.
To make these sweaters, the entrepreneur called on Royal Mer, a family business located in the Nantes vineyards, in La Regrippière. In difficulty, it changed hands in 2016 and was taken over by two partners.
This new adventure is still in its early stages. For the past two weeks, Régis Gautreau has been testing his sweater at the Talensac market, where he is present at the end of the week. "Talensac is my office and my laboratory. This is where I launch my products. It is a market with an interesting clientele. I see how they react." DB
