Planned obsolescence of tights: Dare to try Berthe Aux Grands Pieds, sustainable quality!
Listen !
Interview with Regis Gautreau by Elodie Forêt, journalist.
"Whether they cost 5 to 10 or 15 euros, tights, all women will tell you, they don't hold up! This may seem anecdotal but behind a pair of threadbare tights there is the question of planned obsolescence. An obsolescence that costs us dearly and has a harmful impact on the environment since most of these tights end up in the trash but it's not inevitable, some more intimate brands are taking other directions."
Régis Gautreau, founder of Berthe Aux Grands Pieds:
"My record for the lifespan of a pair of tights is 16 years, not 16 seconds! For example, the most transparent will last a long time, why? Because the central thread of the lycra is surrounded by a "spring" thread that turns to the right and another to the left. It's a double protection that allows the tights to be much more resistant. Simply, the thread is very expensive."
The thread is expensive, as are the tights, around 30 euros on average, the price to pay for long-lasting tights.
