La Manufacture Perrin, new managers, multiple projects!

The French buy an average of seven pairs per year, which brings the number of pairs of socks sold annually in France to around 450 million . A considerable figure that does not really benefit French companies, however, since nearly 95% are imported, particularly from China. As a result, the number of sock manufacturers has shrunk dramatically in France, going from 500 50 years ago to just under ten. Among those resisting is the Manufacture de Bonneterie Perrin , founded in 1924 in Montceau-les-Mines by Francis Perrin, who is preparing to hand over the reins to new managers.

A succession that is taking place smoothly since Martine Couturier, who represents the fourth generation, and her husband, Franck Couturier, are staying in the company and will transfer their shares in July to a new duo: Damien Schneider, current CEO of Perrin, who will become CEO , and Constance Nicaise, head of the Perrin boutique network, who will serve as CEO . Régis Gautreau, founder of the Berthe aux Grands Pieds sock brand, which alone accounts for 40% of Manufacture Perrin's turnover, is already a shareholder in the company.

This new management is therefore entrusted with an SME which employs 90 qualified workers and achieves a turnover of 7 million euros, 90% of which comes from its own brands alone: Berthe aux Grands Pieds , Perrin 1924 , La Chaussette Française and Dagobert à l'envers .

An offer sold in nearly 1,100 points of sale , but also in its own network of stores under the brand. Launched two years ago and named La Manufacture, this brand now has ten stores (including four of its own) and will open three more by the end of the year. On the virtual side, the company has developed a merchant site for each of its brands over the past year. Another area of development for La Manufacture Perrin, which produces 4,500 pairs of socks per year, is international sales, which currently only represent 7% of the company's turnover.

Finally, the industrial company that also produces socks for brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy and Jacadi also does not want to miss the turning point of smart textiles. Manufacture Perrin has thus joined forces with the Grenoble company Texisens to develop a sock to prevent patients from falling in hospitals.
